According to reports, Chelsea is ‘confident of reaching’ an agreement with Atletico Madrid to acquire Joao Felix, as the La Liga club ‘want to speed things up’.

Much of this summer’s transfer intrigue has, naturally, revolved around Chelsea and their talks with La Liga powerhouses Atletico Madrid.

After originally linking Conor Gallagher with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid emerged as the most likely next destination for the England international, and they agreed to a £34 million transfer with Chelsea.

With Atletico Madrid spending an initial £64 million to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, they need to sell a player before signing Gallagher.

Samu Omorodion, a 20-year-old attacker, was set to join Chelsea, but his projected £34.5 million transfer fell through when the Premier League team made a ‘disrespectful’ bid.

Instead, Chelsea has began talks with Atletico Madrid about re-signing Portugal international Felix, who scored four goals in 20 appearances for the Blues while on loan in 2023.

According to a Spanish newspaper, Atletico Madrid ‘want to speed things up’ while Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, ‘is trying to locate a meeting place to resolve the situation’.

It is highlighted that ‘this weekend might be significant’ as Atletico Madrid has set a deadline of next Wednesday for a deal to be finalized because they are intending to announce their summer additions to supporters and ‘want Gallagher to be present’.

Meanwhile, HITC reports that Chelsea is ‘confident of securing’ Felix’s return to Stamford Bridge as they ‘continue their talks over a deal’.
